The Guanaquitas hydroelectric project is a small run-of-river renewable small hydroelectric plant with a total installed capacity of 9,74 MW, located at the left margin of the Guadalupe River in the jurisdiction of the municipalities of Santa Rosa de Osos and Gomez Plata, Department of Antioquia. The energy generated is sold to the National Interconnected System of Colombia.
The project increases the supply of electricity to the grid, offsetting thermal generation with a renewable source of energy, and consequently reducing greenhouse gases emissions. The project reduces 17,869 tCO2/year.
